Nocturnal by nature, Bev Walton~Porter has been a professional writer and editor since May 1997. She is the Founder and a Team Lead for Colorado Springs Paranormal Association (C.S.P.A.). She writes under the pen names of Bev Sninchak and Star Ferris.
While attending the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, Bev majored in Communication and minored in Philosophy, with an emphasis on Eastern belief
systems. She also completed an independent study on death & dying in early pagan cultures.
Previously she attended Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma, where she majored in Mass Communication and Psychology. Bev continues to pursue an education in various subjects, including forensic psychology, literature, languages, and psychology.
She's published several books, including Sun Signs for Writers, Aim To Write: Tips & Tricks for Freeing the Scribe Within, Mending Fences, Hidden Fire, Secrets of the Professional Freelancer, Shadows of the Soul, and Nocturnal Musings: A Collection of Ponderings, Essays, and Short Stories. Bev also co-authored The Complete Writer: A Guide to Tapping Your Full Potential.
Over the years, Bev has been a member of a number of professional organizations, including The Authors Guild, Romance Writers of America (RWA), Mid-America Romance Authors (MARA), Sooner Area Romance Authors (SARA), Enid (Oklahoma) Writers Club, OWFI, Pikes Peak Writers, The National Writers Union, The Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA), American Federation of Astrologers (AFA), Student Allies for Equality (SAFE), Erotica Readers & Writers Association, and the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES). She plans to add Sisters in Crime to her membership list in 2017.
Her nonfiction books are represented by the Meredith Bernstein Literary Agency in New York City.
Married with two adult children (one of whom is also a professional writer), Bev's hobbies include reading, watching documentaries, conducting research into obscure and/or weird subjects, listening to music, playing World of Warcraft, crocheting, and traveling full-time in an RV with her husband Paul and their four dogs.
